He was predeceased by : his mother Barbara P. Gargano (McCoy). He is survived by : his father Douglas R. Fairbanks; his stepmother Cheryl Ann Fairbanks (Leck) of Haverhill; his grandmother Marjorie Fairbanks of Groveland; his siblings, Melissa A. Davies of Haverhill, Michael A. Drapeau, Ryan W. (Melissa Fairbanks), Evan T. (Emily Fairbanks) and Reid D. Fairbanks of Haverhill; and his nephews, Callum, Harris and Wallace Fairbanks. He is also survived by several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim's honor to MSPCA at Nevins Farm, Animal Rescue Merrimack Valley, or Salem Animal Rescue League.
