He was predeceased by: his parents, Joao Correia Garcia and Maria Aurora Garcia (Serpa); and his siblings, Maria Garcia DeFaria and Joao Gualberto Garcia. He is survived by: his wife Eduina Garcia (DaSilva); his son Jose Fernando Garcia; his grandchildren, Megan Garcia, Ian Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Olga Cruz and Kayla Cruz; his siblings, Maria Da Conceicao Mederios of Canada and Manuel Garcia of Faial, Azores; and also Conception Colon-Cruz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
