With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Valcanas of Lowell, Massachusetts, who passed away on March 24, 2021 at the age of 97. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Valcanas to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Anthony Ivos and Garafelia Ivos (Pliaconis); her siblings, Helen Themeles, Costas Ivos, Nicholas Ivos, Georgia Mays (Ivos) and George Ivos; her daughter-in-law Debby Valcanas; her brother-in-law Gregory Themeles; and her nephew Gregory Hayes.
She is survived by: her sons, Peter Valcanas and Nicholas Valcanas; her siblings, Steve Ivos (Lily) and Athena Hayes; her grandchildren, Timothy Valcanas (Heather), Nicole Holm (Tina) and Jaime Valcanas (J. B. Bell); her daughter Joan Metropolis; and her great grandchildren, Cole, Rebecca, Hayden, Jonathan, Amanda, Alexander, Nicholas and Sam. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She always looked forward to a full house of family and friends, especially after church on Sundays before the restriction of Covid19, when her brother, sisters, sister-in-law and nieces would gather at her kitchen table for coffee, conversation and a game or two of "Nickels".
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's name to the Holy Trinity Church.
