He was predeceased by: his spouse Luz Delia Rivera; and his parents, Ramon Rivera Cruz and Rosa Rodriguez Cruz. He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Rivera of Lowell and Monserrate Rivera, Jr. of Manchester, NH; his grandson Luis Rivera; and his siblings, Jose, Angel, Virgelio, Juana and Lydia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
