He was predeceased by: his parents, Domingos Lamas and Luisa Lamas; his wife Lourdes Lamas (Freitas); his son Nelson; and his siblings, Antonio, Maria Pinto, Ana Marques and Adelaide Valadares.
He is survived by: his children, Domingos (Theresa), Maria "Milu" Pereira (Mario), Anna Repko (Bruce), Alan (Mary Jo) and Sergio (Julie); and his daughter-in-law São Lamas. He is also survived by his fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
