She was predeceased by: her brothers, Victor Tavares and Rui Tavares. She is survived by: her husband Artur D. Tavares; her daughters, Hazel Tavares (John W. Kunhardt) of Belchertown, Alice Genereux (John) of Monson and Mabel Madsen (Jeff) of Longmeadow; her siblings, Jose Dinis (Çeu) of Ludlow and Isaura Pedrosa of Azere; her grandchildren, Angela Espeseth (John) of Portland, Peter Charron (Carli) of Monson, Emily Lamb (Richard) of Monson, Elise and Julia Madsen of Longmeadow; her stepgrandson Luca Mastroianni of Monson; and her great grandchildren, Avery and Zachary Lamb of Monson.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maria and her beloved Chihuahua, Speedy, may be made to Thomas J O'Connor Animal Shelter.
