He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Carter and Lillian Carter (Fishbein); and his brother Stephen Carter. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Carter (Goldstein); his children, Lawrence Carter (Jodi) and Jennifer Teitelbaum (Lloyd); his grandchildren, Drew, Corey, Hallie and Eric; and his stepbrother Norman Duxbury (Nancy).
