Dion Birney Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dion Birney of Needham, Massachusetts, born in Washington, District of Columbia, who passed away on August 15, 2021, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sarah Miller Birney and Dion Scott Birney; his wife Jane; and his siblings, James, Arthur and Agnes Hood (Bitsy).
He is survived by: his children, David Birney (Nadine), Carol (Andrew) of Wet and Margaret Vickery (Peter). He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Massachusetts Horticultural Society/Elmbank, for maintaining the greenhouse, Health Care without Walls, or the Birney-Wilson Fund for student support at the Astronomy Department at Wellesley College.
