He was predeceased by: his wife Ethel Gillis (Kaye); and his granddaughter Megan Claire Berwaldt. He is survived by: his children, Deborah Berwaldt (Stephen) of Medfield, MA, David Gillis of Richmond, VA and Anne Carolus (Ross) of Spencerville, IN; and his grandchildren, Christina Pipgras (Matthew), Lindsey Long (Norman), Hannah Berwaldt (Timothy Taylor), Zachary Berwaldt, Jeremy Berwaldt (Andrea Marble), Jami Starling (Aaron), Wendy Stark (Michael), Tom Gillis (Jamie Pitts), Ben Gillis (Jessica), Ellie Carolus, Eva Adams (Bradly), Sam Carolus and Spencer Carolus. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
