He was predeceased by: his sister Joan (Hourihan); and his parents, Thomas J. Hourihan and Mary Hourihan (Fleming). He is survived by: his children, Thomas P. Hourihan (Karla Keefe), Karen Joy (Tom), Kathy Carter, Janet Brooks (Bill), Lisa Jackson (Tom) and Lynne Kilmartin; his grandchildren, Kelly Gregg (Matt), Jennifer, Matt Joy, Richie, Allison, Chris Carter, Dan, Ryan Brooks, Annie, Joe, Cecilia, Pat Jackson and Cierra Kilmartin; his stepgrandchildren, Joe, Helen Brooks, Mike and Megan Brooks; his great grandchildren, Gracie, Charlie and Isabelle Gregg; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Charlotte, Callie, Eliza Brooks and Ben Brooks; his brother George Hill; and his siblings-in-law, Jim Tobin and Stel Lennon. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
