He was predeceased by : his parents, Donald Ames Sr. and Evelyn Ames. He is survived by : his wife Wendy Ames; his children, Dawn Marie Budgell (Rob Sabatella), John Ogiba (Danielle Cameron) and Donald Ames III (Alison Ames); and his grandchildren, Taylor, Jax Budgell, Morgan Bilodeau, Greyson Ames, Colby, Hailey and Logan Cameron.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Tucker Gosnell Center for Gastrointestinal Cancers at Massachusetts General Hospital.
