She was predeceased by: her parents, Gordon Layne and Elise Robinson; her husband Wilbert Newton; and her children, Oneta Newton and Douglas Newton.
She is survived by: her children, Granville, Winston, Merton, Valerie, David, Gordon, Joseph, Levi, Anna and Godfrey; her sister Yvonne Robinson (Barbados); her children-in-law, Margo, Margaret, Laura, Keith and Grenville; her grandchildren, Akilah, Frank, Juanita, Monica, Kathy, Sonya, Martin, Michelle, Wayne, Shaun, Corene, Joseph, Shawn, Nicole, Cherry, Sharon, Gordon, Grenville, Jennifer, Zadrian, Yvette, Shaquanna, Solitare, Teriann, Matiann, Cemone and Samuel; her sibling's children, Juliet, Mary, Marcia, Deanne, Margaret, Lorraine, Jannie, Frankie and Collins; her cousins, Onell Dear of Florida and Bishop Wesley Dear of Thyme Bottom; and her son Phillip Pilgrim.
She died peacefully in her sleep, of the Covid-19 virus, at CareOne Nursing Home, Newton, Massachusetts, two days before her 101st birthday.
