She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, James Plakas and Jeanette Plakas; her siblings, Nina, Eve, Michael and Nicholas; her spouse Sarante "Bob" Zannis; her children, Joanne Fox (Robert) and James Zannis (Jackie); her grandchildren, Robert Fox (Danielle), Nicole Depferd (Michael), Ruth Zannis and Kate Zannis; and her great grandchildren, Andrew, Chloe, Ben, Raye and Charlie.
Maria moved from Newton to an apartment in the Mashpee Commons in 2015 and lived there on her own until the start of the pandemic.
