With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melvin E. Scovell (Newton, Massachusetts), who passed away on June 5, 2021. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Cynthia Scovell (Cohn); his children, Julie (Mark Kaufman), Alice, Nell (Colin Summers), Ted (Gail) and Claire (Rob LaZebnik); his grandchildren, Eric (Cori), Adam Kaufman (Molly), Emma (Hal Emmer), Teddy (Laura Cain), Libby Coleman, Rudy, Dexter Summers, Freddy Scovell, Max, Johnny, Annie and Will LaZebnik; his great grandchildren, Harper, Jordan, Remi Kaufman, Quinn, Asher, Hudson Kaufman and Sophie Emmer; and his close friend Lilla Waltch of Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, The New England Conservatory of Music, or the ACLU.
