We are sad to announce that on September 9, 2020, at the age of 95, Richard Alan Smith (Newton, Massachusetts), born in Brookline, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Midwest Drive; his children, Amy Smith Berylson (John Berylson), Robert A. Smith (Dana Smith) and Debra Smith Knez; his grandchildren, Jennifer Berylson Block, Jonathan Block, James T. Berylson, Elizabeth Berylson Katz, Robert Katz, Jessica, Andrew Knez, Madeleine, Ryan and Jackson Smith; his great grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachary, Alexander Block, Thomas, Sara and William Katz; his sister Nancy Lurie Marks; his wife Susan Flax Smith; and his son James A. Smith. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Additionally, he served on the Joslin Diabetes Center's board from 2002 onward, the Beth Israel Hospital board as a Trustee and Honorary Trustee, and the United Cerebral Palsy Research and Educational Foundation.
