He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Irene (Lash); and his brother Alfred Halpern. He is survived by: his daughter Allyson Halpern; his son-in-law Dan Cohen; his granddaughters, Carly of San Francisco, CA and Maya of San Francisco, CA; and his significant other Shirley Denker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to JFS of Metrowest Elder Care Services, 475 Franklin Street, Suite 101, Framingham, MA 01702.
