He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph T. Joyce, Sr. and Patricia Joyce (McCaffrey). He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Joyce (White) of Quincy; his son Samuel J. Joyce (Danielle Manning) of Quincy; his siblings, Brenda Sprague (Patrick) of Quincy and Mark Joyce (Patricia) of Stoughton; and his friend Thomas Jablonski of Weymouth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
