He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander "Sandy" Smith and Nora Smith (Davis) of New Bedford; and his siblings, Martha A. Sullivan, Margaret E. O'Neil, Catherine J. Griffin, Mary T. Smith, Eleanora S. Fontaine, Natalie B. Arnett, Peter Smith, Winifred A. Smith and Theresa M. Smith.

He is survived by: his sisters, Alice Larson of South Dartmouth, Shirley Smith of South Dartmouth and Barbara Brennan of South Dartmouth; and his uncle Sandy.
