June K. Boulter Obituary

June Kingsbury (Porter) Boulter, 95, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024, at her home in Rockport. She was the beloved wife of Edward Alan Boulter who passed away in 2013.

June was born in Auburn, NY, June 16, 1928, the daughter of James and Euretta (Seamans) Porter. Her auspicious beginning was being the smallest live baby to be born at the local hospital, weighing less than 3 pounds. Against the odds, June thrived and came home within 2 months.

From age 9-12, June's singing talent landed her on a local radio show and onstage at Schine Theater in Auburn. She has fond memories of this time, even waiting in the wings with the likes of a young Frank Sinatra!

As a teen, her talent for painting and sketching portraits won her the favor of friends and teachers alike. She was also a gymnast in school. Her forte was the rings suspended from the ceiling of the gym.

Rockport was June's home since 1948. She & Alan met as next-door neighbors in Newton when her family moved there. He brought her to Pigeon Hill where his family spent summers and they bought their own house there in 1953. It was always a welcoming home filled with love, where their children, grandchildren and great grands lived and cousins, elders and neighbors visited and learned that they could always count on Junie for whatever their need might be.

Beyond family, the Boulter household was a gathering place through the years for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H-ers, teenagers, lots of committee meetings, everyone's friends, and dinners with Alan's global network of peers in GE. Fortunately, one of June's favorite pastimes was cooking! She also loved reading and playing piano. And how she loved to shop for bargains!

Church life was very important to her. She & Alan were active members of Rockport's Unitarian Universalist church where they served on the Board and committees. June taught Sunday School for several years. She was committed to giving children a foundation for their spiritual and religious quests, by engaging them to learn about religions of the world with free and open hearts and minds.

June is survived by her daughter, Susan Bonior and husband, Dan, of Limington, ME; son, Robert Boulter and wife, Kathy, of Rockport; grandsons, Crispin, Micah & Aaron Boulter, Jon Alan Bonior & Brian Rocha; granddaughter, Juli Boulter; great-grandchildren Casey & Sadie Boulter; and extended family in the U.S., Brazil & Canada. June was pre-deceased by her parents, stepfather, Harold McCarthy of Auburndale, MA, sister, Sally Burnip of St. Catherine, Ontario, and son, Richard Boulter in 2016.

June's family invites friends & acquaintances to a Memorial Service & Celebration of Life at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Rockport, 4 Cleaves St. on Saturday, March 23, 11AM.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite-B-102 Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Unitarian Universalist Society of Rockport at the above address.
