Eleanor R. Shiels Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eleanor R. Shiels of Sheffield, Massachusetts, who passed away on October 30, 2020, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her former husband Joseph F. Shiels; her parents, Joseph Bowden and Eleanor Bowden; her parents-in-law, Joseph Birney and Margaret Birney; her brother Donald Bowden; her sister-in-law Emily Bowden; her aunt Ruth Corkill; her uncle Al Corkill; her cousin Ruth Corkill; her siblings-in-law, William Birney and Audrey Birney; her grandson Timothy Shiels; and her great-nephew Robert Bowden.
She is survived by: her children, NJ, Eleanor, Height (Gordon) of Lee, MA, Donald Shiels (Sue) of Florence, MA and Michael Shiels (Lynne) of Sheffield, MA; her grandchildren, Megan Shiels-Willard, Matthew Shiels, Alison Trevathan (Height), Erick Shiels, David Height and Caitlyn Shiels; and her husband NJ. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew.
We thank the heroes on the front lines of this terrible pandemic at BMC, and her health care providers for many years, Sharyn Hickey, NP, Dr. Kyle Cooper, Dr. Khan and Dr. Shreefter. The family urges the community to remain vigilant to fight the Covid-19 pandemic to honor those who have experienced this terrible disease.
