He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Collins, Sr. and May Collins (Shakeshaft). He is survived by: his wife Julie Collins (Joynt); his brother Walter Collins of New Bedford; his granddaughters, Andrea Loebenberg (Eric) of North Carolina, Ella Collins and Freetown; his stepgranddaughters, Britney Simoneau (Dan) of New Bedford, Jennifer Ravenelle and Freetown; and his great grandchildren, Ezra, Isaac, Joel and Olivia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
