Noemia Dos Anjos Sousa Obituary

Noemia Dos Anjos (Ferreira) Sousa, 92, of Swansea passed away on Friday September 21, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. She was the wife of the late Jose Soares Sousa. Noemia was born in Fenais da luz Sao Miguel, Azores the daughter of the late Jose Ferreira da Silva and Mariana Rego Alberto Silva. She immigrated to the United States in 1962 and then worked as a seamstress at the Sagamore Mill in Fall River for several years.

She enjoyed cooking gardening and tending to her chickens. Mrs. Sousa cherished the time she spent with her family and friends and helped raise her grandchildren. Survivors are a daughter: M. Merces Soares of Swansea, MA; three sons: Joseph Soares and his wife Linda of Warren, RI; Norbert Soares of Swansea, MA; Manuel Soares and his wife Lillian of Somerset, MA; two sisters: Eduarda Costa of Fall River, MA; Cecila Sousa of Somerset, MA; a brother: Anibal F. Silva of Fall River, MA; six grandchildren: Kelly Gunn and her husband Michael, Eric Soares, John Soares Carreiro, Matthew Soares, Samantha Soares and Maxanne Wordell; two great grandchildren: Erin and Jonathan Gunn.

She was the mother of the late Joao Luis Soares, sister of the late Elmira Cabral, Jose F. Silva and Noe F. Silva; grandmother of the late J. Michael "Mickey" Soares. Funeral Information Her Funeral Service will be held on WEDNESDAY at 9am from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am in Saint Louis de France Church 56 Buffington Street, Swansea.
