Linda L. O'Toole Obituary

Planted in memory of Linda L. O'Toole Linda L. O'Toole Obituary It is with deep sorrow to announce the passing of Linda L. O'Toole. Linda, 77, a longtime resident of Tewksbury and most recently of Newburyport, passed after a short period of declining health with loved ones by her side.

Linda was the only child of the late William Tarr and Isabelle (Paynotta) Tarr.

She was born, raised, and educated in her beloved Gloucester. Throughout her life she looked forward to every summer and long swimming sessions at Niles beach and Front beach. She cherished her childhood memories visiting all the beaches in Gloucester with her mother, aunts, and cousins. Beaches were her happy place.

Linda had a long successful career in Human Resources, a profession she had an instinctive aptitude for. Bargaining with union presidents, negotiating union contracts, and traveling the country recruiting for technical positions were responsibilities she excelled at.

She was a longtime dedicated Patriots fan, never missing a game and became a skillful fantasy football player. She enjoyed being part of an all-female fantasy football group.

An accomplished gardener and lover of plants, Linda looked forward to spring and the annual travels with a special friend to nurseries, garden centers, and botanical gardens throughout New England and beyond– particularly a trip to the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden and New York Botanical Garden. She had a marvelous ability to create beautiful and unique flower and planter arrangements that were admired by many.

Linda's loved ones are grateful for the excellent care and kindness she received from staff at Newburyport Cancer Center and Atria Senior Living in Newburyport. She enjoyed her time at Atria particularly the caring staff, the entertainment, activities, and the scenic bus rides.

She leaves behind friends and family who will miss her deeply. She was a special person.

A graveside service will take place on May 3, 2024, at 11:00am at Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
