He was predeceased by: his parents, William Backoff and Doris M. Backoff (Walbridge); his sons, William E. Backoff, III, Paul M. Backoff and Robert D. Backoff; and his sister Judy Casperson.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara J. Hentschel (Hentschel); his children, Nancy L. Kiehl of North Attleboro and Stephen H. Backoff of Bourne; his grandchildren, Cindy Cook of Attleboro, Mandy Jenks (David) of Plainville, Jessica Kiehl of Attleboro, Jeffrey Kiehl (Amanda) of Attleboro, Scott Backoff (Jessie) of New Hampshire and Sara Lind (Eric) of New Hampshire; his great grandchildren, Jason, Shaya, Logan, Joslyn and William; and his siblings, Thomas H. Backoff of Whitman and Cynthia Drinkwater of Florida.
