He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph A. Gill and Mary (Nelson); and his sister Mary Flanagan. He is survived by: his wife Mary M. (Siracusa); his sons, Stephen (Erin), Joseph (Theresa) and Richard (Alison); his grandchildren, Christine, Alyssa, Audrianna and Ava; and his sisters, Nancy Kearney and Joanne O'Rourke. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
