He was predeceased by: his parent Anna Yates (Lucas). He is survived by: his sibling-in-law Jean Kenneally of Mansfield; his parent Russell A. Yates Sr.; his wife Barbara Civic; and also Honda Civic.

Russell has been lovingly cared for by the staff and caregivers at Newton Wellesley Center for Alzheimer's Care since 2016.
