He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos Mercado and Maria Diaz Capetillo; his sons, Jorge Mercado, Jr. and Joel Mercado; and his brother Roberto Galeno.
He is survived by: his wife Aida Guerra; his children, Luis Anibal Mercado, Dimaries Mercado, Marielena Mercado, Stephanie Mercado, Nashari Mercado and Caroline; his siblings, Carlos Mercado, Miguel Mercado, Ramon Mercado, Wilfredo Galeno, Orlando Mercado, Maritza Severino, Evelyn Lugo and Irma Mercado; and his grandchildren, Janiel Mercado, Jeremiah Markise Jones, Ezequiel Pomales, Ariana Ma'kayla Jones, Jonathan Pomales, Josiah Mercado, Romellie Marie Springer, Leonardo Oyola, Abniel Mercado, Kianny Ivette Ayala, Xiomara Marlene Ayala, Luis Ernesto Ayala and Axiel Mercado.
