It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Bates of West Springfield, Massachusetts, born in Springfield, Massachusetts, who passed away on November 16, 2020, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Bates and Mary Bates (Dugas); his wife Helen Bates (Timberlake); and his brother Ernest. He is survived by: his children, Richard L. Jr. of West Springfield and Linda Lewis of Feeding Hills; his siblings, Leo Bates of Springfield and Betty Durant of Feeding Hills; his grandchildren, Richard T. and Cheyenne; and his great grandchildren, Sawyer and Finnleigh. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
