He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Goodsell and Dorothy Goodsell (Masko); his sister Dorothy Stierle (Robert T. Stierle); and his father-in-law Robert N. Stierle. He is survived by: his wife Jeanne Goodsell (Stierle); his children, Andrew R. Goodsell and Mary-Anne E. Goodsell; his grandchildren, Benjamin Goodsell, Cameron Goodsell and Milana Novelli; his sister Diane Danahey (Brian) of Longmeadow; his mother-in-law Grace E. Stierle of Agawam; and his sister-in-law Helen James (John) of Chicopee. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
