He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Francis Armstrong and Helen Armstrong (Bock). He is survived by: his siblings, Carol A. Downing of New Hampshire and Thomas R. Armstrong (Joanne) of Southampton, MA; his niece Maureen Downing of Nevada; his great-nephew Eamon Conway of New Hampshire; and his close friend Linda Callahan of Chicopee, MA.
For three years, he had courageously battled intermittent lung cancer and then, most recently, the complications of COVID-19.
It is suggested that memorial contributions in Sam's name, if desired, be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 337 Piper Rd., West Springfield, Friends of the West Springfield Public Library, 200 Park Ave., West Springfield, or the D'Amour Center for Cancer Care, 3350 Main St., Springfield, MA.
