He is survived by: his parents, Michael Gillis of Weymouth and Peg Figueroa of Weymouth; his stepparent Jose Figueroa; his child Alannah Gillis of Brockton; his siblings, Annie Gillis of Roslindale and Mary Gillis of Westwood; and also Alicia Patrick of Brockton. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to Father Bills Place, 38 Broad Street, Quincy, MA 02169 or Teen Challenge, 1315 Main Street, Brockton MA 02301.
