He was predeceased by: his children, Thomas J. Hardy, Marie T. Brennan and Melissa A. Hardy; his brothers, Robert F. Hardy and David Hardy; and also Marie T. Hardy Falcione.

He is survived by: his son James M. Hardy, Jr. (Kimberly) of Hanover; his grandchildren, Cameron, Gavin, Grace, Krysten, Thomas, Abigail, Emma, Vincent, MacKennan, Jordyn, Layla and Brooklyn; his sister Catherine A. Hardy (Kenneth Bresnahan) of Quincy; and his friends, Larry Holt and Pat Connolly. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
