He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel B. Shafer and Mary V. Shafer (Higgins); his wife Teresa A. Shafer (Sweeney); and his stepdaughter Christine Truman. He is survived by: his brother Daniel E. Shafer of Reno; and his nephew Daniel J. Shafer.
