He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Kamison Doherty; his sister Kathleen Doherty; his sibling's children, Liann, Kristin Moffat (David) of Lunenberg and Brian Doherty (Kim) of Norton; his daughter Elizabeth Doherty (Rick Fuller); and his grandchildren, Ronan, Declan and Cormac.
