He was predeceased by: his spouse Ruth; his child Arthur R. Stead; and his grandchild Josephine. He is survived by: his children, William T. Stead (Jamie) of Fairbanks and Matthew J. P. Stead (Lauren) of Arlington; his grandchildren, Kyle, Christopher, Katherine, Kirstin and Isabelle; and his brothers, James of Bellingham and Kenneth of Concord. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
