He was predeceased by: his wife June O. Whalen (Swift); his parents, Walter Whalen and Mary Whalen (Conway); his children, Patricia, John and Jodi Whalen; and his siblings, Jack Whalen and Ann Gaine.
He is survived by: his children, James (Mary Whalen) of Worcester, David (Cindy) of Auburn, Eileen Welton, Mark of Marlborough, Thomas and Maria of Worcester; his sister Mary Brigham of Belchertown; his grandchildren, Heidi Curry, Jessica Biziewski, Daniel Whalen, Sarah McElroy, Kathryn Whalen, Emily Welton Reis, Jacob Welton, Meaghan Whalen and Jack Whalen; and his great grandchildren, Hannah, Macy Biziewski, Brooklyn, Logan Reis, Brayden, Peyton, Jaxson Welton and Rylee McElroy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
