He was predeceased by: his parents, John Matthew Byrnes, Sr. and Catherine Coakley Byrnes; and his siblings, John M. Byrnes, Jr. and Rose Ann Byrnes Henke. He is survived by: his wife Veronica Lonergan Byrnes; his daughter Maureen Byrnes Palahach; his son-in-law Brandon Palahach; his grandsons, Carson Palahach of Decatur and Cameron Palahach of Decatur; and his sister Marguerite Byrnes Brennan of Overland. He is also survived by his wife relocated from their home in Annapolis, Maryland to Decatur, Alabama in order to be close to their daughter, son-In-law and grandsons.
