He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Joseph E. Ahern and Gertrude M. Ahern; his sons, Robert J. Ahern, Jr. (Vikki), Gregory T. Ahern, Sr. and Michael J. Ahern (Lorena); and his grandchildren, Zachary M. Ahern (Caitlin), Wyatt M. Ahern, Reagan A. Ahern, Gregory T. Ahern, Jr. and Sarah N. Ahern. He was also cherished by several great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, family asks that a donation be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
