He was predeceased by: his parents, Sofiya Katsnelson and Samuil Kontorovich. He is survived by: his sister Galina Katsnelson (Aleksandr); his uncle Vladimir Katznelson; and his sibling's children, Dmitriy, Yevgeniy and Masha.
