With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Beatrice Sykes (Baltimore, Maryland), who passed away on May 24, 2019 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband John L. Sykes; her son Stanley Garlick; her siblings, Lillie Mitchell, Alonzo Pollard, William Pollard and Irene Russell; her grandchildren, James Vaughan, Jr. and Shawyn Jenkins; and her great grandchild Maurice Taylor Bey.
She is survived by: her children, Delaine Vaughan (Connie), Cleveland Taylor Bey (Blanche), Prentiss Johnson (Aretha), Robert Q. Johnson (Diane) and Sheila Williams (Dwight); her siblings-in-law, Elizabeth Pollard, Odessa Sykes Patillo, Juran Sykes Squire, Cecelia Sykes and James Walter Sykes; and her close friends, James and Denyce Hill. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
