He was predeceased by: his wife Carnether Hurt; and his grandson Jemar Hurt. He is survived by: his children, Jerry Hurt, Garland Hurt Jr., Evangeline Hurt and Carnether Proctor; and his siblings, Raymond Massey and Patricia Massey. He is also survived by one daughter-in-law, eight grand children, twelve great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
