He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ritter Middelton; his children, James William Middelton, Jr., Holly Middelton Tamisiea (John) and Daniel Michael Middelton (Courtney); his sister Ann Middelton Kelly; and his grandchildren, John Middelton Tamisiea, Grace Marie Tamisiea, Hadley Cooke Middelton and William Cooper Tamisiea.
