He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lloyd "Buddy" Colbert, Sr. and Ethel Teresa "Tressie" Dugger; his siblings, George "Georgie" Colbert, Charles "Ricky" Thomas, Gregory Thomas and Ethel "Pratt" Colbert; and his grandson Jonathan Colbert.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Lloyd "Buddy" Colbert, III, Shannon LaVar Colbert, Tonya Davis and Towanda Dorsey; his sons-in-law, Darryl Davis Sr. and Rodney Dorsey Sr.; his sister Barbara Lee; his brother-in-law Robert Lee; his grandchildren, Ebony Davis, Darryl Davis Jr., Tasha Davis (Tonya), Shannell Hall, Jasmine Colbert, Kimberly Colbert (Buddy), Brittany McNeil, Quanda McNeil, LaRita Smith, Robert Dorsey, Jr. (Towanda), Shabria Colbert, Shantierra Colbert and Shannon Colbert Jr. (Shannon); and his cousin Ronald Coleman. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
