She is survived by: her daughter Michelle Smack (Victor); her siblings, Rayfield Purnell, Barbara Ellis, Della Miller, Ozelle Williams (James), Yvonne Williams (Lewis) and Maxine Wright (Curtis); and her grandchildren, Rashaun Bass, Diallo Bass, Jerrell Bass and Shymica Church (Alfonzo). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.

She told me her sight was leaving her, but she pressed on. We had lots of meaningful and insightful conversations that I will cherish the rest of our lives. John and I were saddened to hear the news.
