She was predeceased by : her parents, Minna Lohak and Samuel Rabinowitz. She is survived by : her children, Aviva Hord (Ed), Jonathan Gang (Jane) and Sharon Gang; her grandchildren, Meira Shapiro (Jim), Talya Constable (Jon), David Gang (Morgan) and Rachel Gang (Tomer Stokelman); and her great grandchildren, Ruby, Beatrice, Alice, Nathaniel, Ben and Gus. She is also survived by her extended family, friends.

“I lived next door to the Gang family while attending junior and senior high school in Bethesda, Md. I knew Avila slightly but wish I had gotten to know Florence, and especially to have known her as an artist. Since I grew up to be a full time artist myself, I have a feeling she would have been an inspiration and possibly even a much needed mentor. I'm sorry to have lost such an opportunity to know and to learn from her experience.”
