He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Brooks and Cora Cobbs Brooks; his wife Myrtle Ann Tilghman Brooks; his son Derrick Morgan Brooks Sr.; and his siblings, Albert Brooks, Watson Brooks Sr., Milford Brooks, Joe Brooks, Otis Brooks, Lavanda Sturdivant, Geneva Lily, Georgia Parker and Norexa Ewing.
He is survived by: his son Ganes Brooks, Jr. (East New Market); his sisters, Martha Brown (Houston Texas) and Dora Copeland (Matthews North Carolina); and his sister-in-law Clarabelle Tilghman. He is also survived by 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren and 1 Great Great grandchild.
