He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Smith and Nelda Dea Mullennix. He is survived by: his former wives, Judith Ann Elzey and Sara Newcomb; his wife Sara Smith of Cambridge; his daughter Angela Carrier of Cambridge; his granddaughters, Heather Ewell and Brooke Ewell of Cambridge; his stepson Clay Howell (Cinda) of Tyaskin; and his brother Donald Smith of New Jersey.
