He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Rose Whitman and Robert Arthur Smith, Sr.; his brother James W. Smith; and his sister-in-law Gabrielle Smith. He is survived by: his children, Robert M. Smith (Nicole), Kristin L. Smith (Johnny) and Joshua P. Smith (Lauren); his grandchildren, Jayden M. Cornish, Jorden L. Cornish, Violet R. Smith and Ivan H. Smith; and his siblings, Bobbie Ann Davies and Paul J. Smith.
