He was predeceased by : his parents, Thomas E. Nelson, Sr. and Bertha Parks Nelson; and his former life partner Jane Nelson. He is survived by : his former life partner Jane Baker Downes; his daughters, Amy Downes Nelson Leach (Ray Swincki) and Jill Parks Nelson Davis (Dale); and his wife Elizabeth Kirby "Betty" McGlashan Nelson. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
