He was predeceased by: his parents, John David and Helen Hurd (Maslin); his wife Sharon Hurd (Dickerson); his son Phillip; and his brother Charles Edward Hurd.
He is survived by: his sisters, Mary Grussing and Barbara Dawkins; his close friend Linda Beasley; and also Tracy Burris. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
